Getting probate information

There is a formal procedure through the Toronto Region Estates Office and a simplified procedure through Thomson Reuters.
All searches relating to Estates matters throughout Ontario can be done through the Toronto Region Estates Office (7th floor, 330 University Avenue, Toronto; tel. +1 416 326 2940, fax +1 416 326 2939): they usually only require the name of the deceased, but if the name is a common one, they will also ask for a birthdate and/or a date of death. If you can get a death certificate this would simplify matters as you could simply attach a copy to your request for information.
The procedure through Thomson Reuters (tel. +1 416 348 0432) requires the name of the deceased, his birth date and date of death; the charge is usually between $50 and $100 dollars.
Please observe that this Consulate is not directly competent in this matter.
